Spring has come at last!
I took this Sakura flower photo at my neighborhood in this morning. And we're gonna have a Hanami party in the Osakajo park this weekend. Here comes the Hanami season!! I really love this atmosphere of spring in Japan. Beginning of April is completely the best time to visit to Japan. Let's get drunk in public together!! Haha

034: IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME

OMG... I hadn't written any entries since last year... I think I have to say "Happy New Year!" to you. Sorry for late. Haha
Actually, as you're looking, I was trying to re-design for this blog. But I didn't have enough time to do it, so I couldn't have the motivation to write an entry, either. Blah blah blah... And Twitter is the biggest reason to freeze this blog. I was starting Twitter for my job at first, but recently I'm really into it actually. The happiest thing of that was I could find some old friends again on it.
Whatever, I have worked for some interesting projects as usual, during this time too. Soon I can show you about those things, so wait a while please. (...well, who am I speaking to???)
Okay, Japan is getting warmer little by little. Soon we can see the very beautiful cherry blossom and can get drunk under those branches. Can't wait for that!

I'm still practicing with Adobe Illustrator "Gradient Mesh" tool.
I imagined like... "How the icon is gonna be like, if Freemason makes an application for OSX?"
Actually, this is totally meaningless. I just wanted to draw something by the tool.
Very luckily, all of 3 skateboarding videos recently I got were totally awesome!
The skateboarding culture still gives me a lot of inspirations, although I've stopped skateboarding since long ago. So I'm continuing to get those videos often still.

Yeah, actually the skateboarding industry has changed a lot especially in this 20 years. Not only Tony Hawk but also many other skaters became millionaires. We can find tons of skaters everywhere on the street. Many people are thinking it's metamorphosed as like a part of a main culture already. It might mean that skateboarding is not special anymore.
I can't say it's a good thing or a bad thing, but in fact, at least the quality of the skill and the expressions for videos for example, are getting higher and higher.

These 3 videos are very major videos. Means not independent. But their spirit is still like street kids, in good meaning.
Challenging, boldness, pride, vandalism... Those words sound like very primitive and old fashion, but every time make me exciting without any thinkings.

Of course I know almost every "sports" are very similar, but skateboarding is a little bit different for me. I can't say what exactly that is, but I think you can feel kinda same thing. It's not only a sport but also a culture...

Anyway simply put it's COOL. That's all. ;]

I'd not been updating this blog recently... Because of the project "Hadalove", for a skincare products series, and it has launched today at last!

This became a very important and unforgettable experience to me.
I had built the root concept of both TVCM and websites, and this (making a TVCM at the same time) was the first challenge for me, actually.
The concept I made was "Suri-Suri".
Suri-Suri means a sound of rubbing something, in Japan. And I guess this common expression is not only in Japan - if you have something really favorite, you would rub your cheek on it.
So, I wanted to tell "If you use this skincare products, it makes everyone want to rub your brand-new beautiful skin with their own cheek. blah blah blah..." through Suri-Suri.
And the products' main concept is "simple". So I didn't make the website decorative. A little bit too simple? Why not? hehe

BTW, when I was thinking about the famous standard Jazz song called "Cheek to Cheek", I got this idea suddenly. We often can find ideas, from some totally unrelated things. And I like this way better. I don't wanna get the inspirations from only internet, then express it only in internet again.

Anyway, please enjoy this website together with the sound. Don't forget to make it fullscreen first. And also enjoy the TVCM if you live in Japan.

On 11th July, I and my friends went to watch the baseball game at Hanshin Koshien Stadium. Of course I'm a Giants fan, cuz I was born in Tokyo.
And guess what, this is a common sense in Japan but the Tigers fans and the Giants fans are hating each other very much! :P
I couldn't relax at all at the middle of Tigers fans... Haha
Anyway, it was a very nice experience though! For me, it was the first visiting there, actually. But unfortunately, I couldn't see this stadium before the last year's reconstruction.
Well, I'm gonna be back here to watch "Kokoyakyu" again this summer!

023: BOONEOAKLEY.COM - HOME PAGE ON YOUTUBE

When I was taking a look at THEFWA.com, I found such a great website with a very novel idea.

BooneOakley.com

This website has been made of only those functions of Youtube.
Right now, we think it's just a website made of Youtube, but you know, unbelievably tons of people is watching Youtube everyday, but no one could make this idea before them. It looks very easy and simple, but I can tell that the team which built this has a very flexibly point of view.
Of course, I guess that someone already conceived an quite similar idea, but there is a huge difference between just "planning" and "execution", in fact.
Also I really like this atmosphere of the art direction. I know this kinda "low fidelity style" is a very big movement recently in a design industries (especially internet) in '00s.
Anyways, I'm gonna do my best to have new ideas like this!

This is the top page of this website. You can navigate to everywhere from here.

Not only this technical idea, but they also have an absolutely great creativity.

Of course every contents were made by movie, so if you won't touch them, it's gonna be changed and finished automatically.

We can send the Youtube message to them.

They're having big clients!

WTF!?

022: WARP.NET HAS REDESIGNED BY UNIVERSAL EVERYTHING

Warp.net has been redesigned by Universal Everything recently.
The founder Matt Pyke used to be a member of Designers Republic. Their DNA exists still around the UK design scene, although Designers Republic has closed its doors unfortunately.
Warp's websites were built by Kleber for long time, but I couldn't find their name on the credit anymore. It means Universal Everything and Kleber are building a really close relationship, I guessed.
The production company for this website was Remote Location which is a obviously cool creative boutique.
Anyway, I really love UK web design industry's Ajax fundamentalism style! Very cool, mate!! =)

This below is "Warp Playlist". They're not only great artists, but also awesome business people!! Haha
