022: WARP.NET HAS REDESIGNED BY UNIVERSAL EVERYTHING

warpWebsiteCapture.jpg

Warp.net has been redesigned by Universal Everything recently.
The founder Matt Pyke used to be a member of Designers Republic. Their DNA exists still around the UK design scene, although Designers Republic has closed its doors unfortunately.
Warp's websites were built by Kleber for long time, but I couldn't find their name on the credit anymore. It means Universal Everything and Kleber are building a really close relationship, I guessed.
The production company for this website was Remote Location which is a obviously cool creative boutique.
Anyway, I really love UK web design industry's Ajax fundamentalism style! Very cool, mate!! =)

This below is "Warp Playlist". They're not only great artists, but also awesome business people!! Haha

LOG ON, GET DOWN! Beatport dot com!!
I've accessed Beatport after a long time today, and realized that the design has changed. And also I found the button which said "DJ Mixes"! It had taken a really long time to be launched...
I don't dig much yet, so I don't know about the quality but those must be great.
PS: ...No exclusive mixes??? FUCK IT!!
There are some exclusive mixes, of course. But almost nothing in Chillout or some other genres. Too bad.

I just wanted to try to create a Beatport Player. This player above is "Genre Player / Chill Out / Top Dwonloads / 30 tracks". Nice! Of course you can chose any tracks and build even a totally original playlist if you want.
You can create your own here. Enjoy it.

P. S.
If it's default, you can see this part below on the top of player.
If you don't need this part, you can cancel it, actually (I don't know it's okay or not okay, anyway). I like simpler.

Find these kinda codes, then comment out!

club4climate.jpg

This is the brand-new style of dance club. Yeah, I could tell that usually normal "party people (especially spiritual headz)" are very interested in being (or just pretending) a Eco person indeed. So there should be a good synergy between Eco and the venue of parties. Very simple.

dancefloorpower.jpg

But you know, Japanese are still thinking about Eco is something like just kinda fashion or just something cool, seriously. This is a deep cultural lag.
But same time, somehow we are aware that we have to start something for the earth from just right now.
We have to build own solutions by ourselves. I respect you Dr. Earth! ;-)

Radiohead held an online contest to remix "Nude" from their 10th album - "In Rainbows" This was quite a difficult task for all the electronic musicians that entered, as Nude is in 6/8 timing, and 63bpm. Most music that's played in clubs is around 120bpm and usually 4/4 timing. It's near impossible to mix a waltz beat into a DJ set.

This resulted in lots of generic entries consisting of a typical 4/4 beat, but with arbitrary clips from "Nude" thrown in so that they qualified for the contest.

Thom Yorke joked at the ridiculousness of it in an interview for NPR radio, hinting that they set the competition "for a laugh" and to find out what would come out of such an impossible task.

I decided to take the piss a bit, as the contest seemed to be in that spirit.

Based on the lyric (and alternate title) "Big Ideas: Don't get any" I grouped together a collection of old redundant hardware, and placed them in a situation where they're trying their best to do something that they're not exactly designed to do, and not quite getting there.

It doesn't sound great, as it's not supposed to.

It's lovely! Amazing work!! ;-)

My first contact to French Hip Hop was the movie "La Haine" by Mathieu Kassovit. I can't forget the scene that a boy was setting up his speakers face to outside by a window, turn up the volume, and starting the very nice juggling.
At that time, I knew only MC Solaar in the French Hip Hop scene though, but when I watched the movie, I totally realized that Hip Hop is very popular in France too.

2 February, 2008 | 12.45AM * Written by: Yuko Asanuma
Another shocking and extremely sad news hit Tokyo on Friday, February 1.
Space Lab Yellow, the city's one of the longest running dance clubs and the world's top DJs' most favoured spot, has officially announced it's closing in June 2008.
The place, widely called as 'Club Yellow' or just 'Yellow,' opened in Nishi-Azabu, Tokyo in '91, and they just had huge parties last December, one with David Morales and Frankie Knuckles, to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the club and also the 20th anniversary of Def Mix together, and another one with Moodymann.
Regardless of its rather small capacity of approx. 800, Yellow has been hosting the nights with the world's A-List DJs and artists. From Francois K to DJ Premier, Laurent Garnier to Mad Professor, Chicks On Speed to Joe Claussell, Lee Perry to Carl Cox... and it has been the most established, quality club in town throughout its history. Read More...

This was a very shocking news for everyone who loves dance music in Tokyo... ;-(

And just lately, Native Instruments has released a free DJ mixing software.
Let me say once more again, this software is FREE! Can you believe it?

System requirements:
Mac OS 10.4™/10.5™, G4 1 GHz or Intel Dual Core™ processor, 512 MB RAM

I really love this kinda animations. And even this kinda music too.
It's impossible to Japanese to make an animation movie which has an atmosphere like this. Very opposite impressions with recent Japanese animations. Of course I know it's pretending the very old-skool style. But still we can't do even pretending, at all. Because we were only watching "Dragon Ball", "Gundam" and "Doraemon" or something like these as very childish ones on TV, every weeks when we were children.
But now, anyone can watch this kinda foreign music videos or animations or any other movies on demand at Youtube. So the next generation will become like very mixed culture peoples, at least more than us.
Now, the young people who are using computers or some network devices everyday, it means that they are able to choose anything from very very huge shopping mall with unbelievably a lot of choices. At least hundred times huger than ours. Recently, many persons in Japanese advertising industry says like "This sounds like an example of 'The Long Tail model'". Yes, the Long tail model proves basically that the young generations' economical actions. Even that means every young people are choosing only things that they exactly want.

Friday night, I went to a party at club Macao which is in Sen-nichimae, Osaka.
Actually, when I was in Tokyo, all my friends who had come from Osaka said about club Macao "There's an unbelievably crazy place in Osaka! You should go there!". So I was really interested in this place, but I'd had no chance to be there.
Then my friend told me that the place's gonna close soon! Yeah, Friday was the closing party (actually, I heard that the party was continuing till 6 PM on Sunday...).

That was a very amazing night. I totally enjoyed myself and met a lot of old friends.
I really regretted that I went there for the first time on closing night!

I've learned the Crescent Orbit yesterday. Yasa actually uses this combo in his freestyle a lot. The sound is so simple but very dopey yo. If you mix up with the normal Orbit like this diagram, you can make a very funky rhythm. But for me, to insert this combo to a beat perfectly is not easy at all. Gotta practice a lot!

F = Forward
B = Backward
Pink line = Cutting

I went to the second lesson of the skratching skool yesterday. I learned the Orbit and the Flare mainly. The Orbit is still so difficult for me! Yasa said, I should use my wrist for making the cutting sound, and use my finger for only clicking during the cutting. Yeah, this is very very hard to explain, but I finally could understand what the Orbit is. If I use my finger for clicking same as the Flare, I never can make the Orbit very fast.
Well, I made the diagram. Yasa said there are almost 3 different patterns of the Orbit. The 1st one is the easiest. The 3rd is the faster version of the 2nd, or it is the tail-cut version of the 1st.
The 2nd one looks easier than 1st, but so difficult... Like the very slow Flare!

I know my english is fxxked up but gonna try to write my diary by that. This is just like practicing English. Don't give a fxxk about mistakes, alright?
Well, I don't have nothing fun to write recently though.
Just one thang, I've just started going to the "skratching skool" (not "scratching school") from last Monday.
You know my teacher is "Dj Yasa" who got the second place for biggest world skratching championships called DMC this year yo! Check this out!
His skratching is fxxking awesome. Super fast, correctly, and soulful. I'm soooo happy about the opportunity to have lessons by such a greatest Dj in here Osaka.
He said my skratching is not bad, but even I have a lot of heavy habits. I gotta fix these habits first then gotta make basic skills more correct. For example Orbit, Transform skratching, and also Crab and so on.
Actually I've done skratching for almost more than seven years, but I've never got lessons by someone like this. It's so fun! I didn't know that...
